Oxnard College, El Rio School District, Santa Paula High School and the Inlakech Cultural Arts Center collaborated to host the 41st Annual Dia de Los Muertos Celebration on the college campus for the benefit of the students to be exposed of college life. El Regreso de Los Muertos from Mictlan to Oxnard College was an invitation to experience the healing elements of culture in the Oxnard Community. A fabulous memorial celebration was hosted on the campus with Aztec Danzantes, visual and performing artist conducting art workshops from Tortilla Art, make and take calavera masks, necklaces, face painting, Zempoaxochitl flower making and the construction of beautiful-personal altares-honoring soldiers, family and even pets. Hot delicious foods were given out to all the participants to taste tamales, chocolate, pan dulce and pan de muerto. It was a fantastic celebration allowing the community to experience. Thanks to the Muerto Coordinating board Oxnard College, the Lucha Committee board members Gabriel Rodriguez, Rick Castaniero and the El Rio School District Assistant Superintendent Oscar Hernandez and staff.
